Bridge repair fast-tracked after plow tire goes through deck
PUTNEY, Vt. (AP) – A bridge that was supposed to be repaired this summer in Putney is getting fixed ahead of schedule after a plow truck’s tire went through a wooden plank.
The Brattleboro Reformer reports that the bridge on Old Stage road will be repaired Monday.
Only three homes lay beyond the bridge, and it is categorized as low priority by the state because it doesn’t see much traffic. But for some residents, it’s the only way home.
Officials say after the plow truck got stuck April 16, the town put steel plates on the bridge as a temporary fix. The wooden deck was last replaced in 2013.
